Excited!

Ok, so some of you may know this, but some of you may not. I got a job composing music for a film called Fishwrap (which is apparently slang for "a newspaper of ill repute"...which fits in with the plot) I was given two weeks to finish the music for it, and this Saturday will be the one week mark. I'm almost done the music, and am currently looking for some music software which is good for editing and adding effects.

My previous experiences composing for movies were all pretty crappy...really poorly done independent shorts or school projects. This is an actual movie though! I still don't think I've fully grasped this fact. This isn't going to premiere to 10 or 15 students...this is premiering to an actual full auditorium of people! I'm going through a whole lot of jitters right now... The director keeps telling me the music I'm sending him is great and fits perfectly...but I can't help thinking that while I do like it...it's just not movie quality. I don't know if this will go away or not, or if maybe it's something all score composers experience at first...but it's unnerving. I've never really doubted myself is a musical sense until now...and if the music does flop...it'll be in front of an entire auditorium of people...many of whom are probably directors and producers with whom I may have gotten additional work. I dunno...maybe I'm just paranoid.

Well, for all those who are interested in coming, the showing is open to the public. It premieres August 25th at 7:30 pm at Central Connecticut State University. Tickets are $10 a person, and it's suggested that you get them ahead of time, as lines may end up being long (with any luck.) More details are available on the website, www.fishwrapthemovie.com, so if you're interested in seeing my debut, let me know. Wish me luck, either way!
