6. Do You Want To Be A Better Man?

Peter rubbed his hands on his pants and finished his bottle of juice. He set it down on the table. Sylar turned unexpectedly and reached out for the empty bottle. Peter jerked back and for a moment Sylar paused, looking at that reaction. His eyes passed over Peter's face in a calculating fashion. He extended his arm slowly and took the plastic ( Read more... )

Interesting how that's both a Sylar and Nathan action to pause when Peter tenses/notices the motion of reaching for the empty bottle.
(Syelle shout out # 2! And...poor Sylar).
I enjoy the exchange of 'I love you' with 'what the *beep beep beepin' beep?* did you do to me?' with a horrified face.
The hug is awesome, again, it's such a weave of 'who is he dealing with?'
Ah! Another 'Grey'.
I love how even though Peter is potentially talking to a mindwiped Nathan (even Sylar), *he* is taking the you-have-abilities thing whole-heartedly. Yeah, he already knows he has disintegration and TK, etc, but he's already asking about abilities.
An 'owch!' moment for Peter. He's having the moment we all dread-- 'I'm not like my mother!!!'
The touching, the give and take, who's reaction is it? It speaks volumes, almost more than Synathan's face does, I think.
And thank you, seriously, for putting two and two together with how Sylar gets out of most scrapes-- IA. He rearranges his DNA, people! He's not Houdini...exactly.
Not long ago Peter was wanting him dead, yet he convinces Synathan out of suicide in an instant. Oh, Peter...You're so hopefully hopelessly hopeless, but Sylar being direct in that moment is great. He's just being honest.
Sylar's looking at Peter's hand on his knee at the end there, going 'you gonna frisk me or take that thing back?'

The touching, the give and take, who's reaction is it?

I had in mind how desperate Sylar is/was there at the end (of the show, of season 4 prior to The Wall) for affection and support, the going to Lydia thing, going to Claire, going to Matt - he was looking for someone to finally give him some freakin' help, a soft spot, some empathy. So it's as much Sylar here as Nathan. What Nathan really does for him here is confuse him as to whether Peter *should* hate him. Sylar can't really fully recognize Peter as an enemy, and so he lets his softer emotions lead him in trusting.

Whose reaction is it? Mostly Sylar's, but kind of both.
