Horses, masturbation, and science

This is a fascinating article. In it, a bunch of scientists study normal stallion masturbation along with the effects of trying to stop the horses from self-pleasuring. I didn't even know horses did that. But learn something everyday, right? Anyway, what I find so intriguing is the possible crossover applications of this to men. What they found with the stallions is that if you keep them from masturbating, they try to masturbate even more often than they did before you started interfering, AND they couldn't get it up with the mares as easily. What I take from this is the implication that a healthy, functioning, sexual male should be allowed to masturbate as much as necessary, because they'll actually then masturbate less plus have a better response to the targets of their love.

It's not a big surprise that if you punish and stress someone for doing something they have little control over (like arousal and sex drive) that you get some pretty neurotic behavior, but I've never seen reliable-looking scientific literature to back that up.
