Something Peter doesn't have that I think a lot of people do is a desire to hurt someone just to do it. To be clear - Peter wants to hurt Sylar, but he wants to hurt Sylar because of Nathan's death. It's not just because he can. There's no 'pulling the wings off flies' thing going on. If Sylar were hurt or helpless, Peter would not antagonize him, tease him, blackmail him, or otherwise kick him while he was down. (Actions in the middle of a physical fight are a bit different.) But you take a character like Elle - I think she'd torment Sylar just to do it, like she did with Peter. And I think there's a basic human urge, when you see someone else weak, to predate on them. Some people aren't that way, but I've seen way too many who are to think it's rare ( ... )
