OMG. I had this exact same idea! Sylar saying/thinking something to the effect of "It's not really "home" but it's what I've got. I'm happy to have something; be safe. Until you showed up."

I totally forgot about Peter's home invasions (I'm surprised he ever lets Nathan or Angela in anymore). Poor baby.

Yeah. The sad part is if I'd continued that, one of the possible rejoinders from Sylar was, "Don't be. I'd rather not be safe than be alone."

Peter: "You shouldn't have to make that choice."

Sylar, "I didn't. You did." A beat of silence while Peter can't find words. "You still do."

And then Peter would be very unsettled and change the subject.

Oh, I love that bit more. It adds a lot. Love the idea of Peter getting hit home with how he's made Sylar feel unsafe in his own home. While it gives them more equal footing, it would be terrible for Peter to realize he's become no better than Sylar.

Wonderful drabble!

Yeah, and there's a layer of nuance I'd want to convey, that Sylar means two things by that comment "I'd rather not be safe than be alone" and "You still do [make that choice]". He means that yes, Peter makes it unsafe; but also that Peter allows Sylar to not be alone. And Sylar is content with the current arrangement - unsafe, but accompanied. Also, basically unbothered that this choice is Peter's rather than his own.
