Although Sylar talks about her being hot, and he offers pointers, and he smugly gloats ... I don't get ANY vibe off the scene that he's really attracted to her, wants her, or feels possessive towards her. He exhibits none of the behaviors I expect to see when a guy's into a woman. It comes off, to me, as meaningless to Sylar except insomuch as 'that was physically pleasant' and 'now I can use this as leverage against Matt'. Do you agree with that?
The whole kidnapping initiation thing is fucked up. All they'd need is one good complaint to the school board and evidence and...no more psycho, lesbo pranks!
I dunno. In the nine years I went to the University of Oklahoma, I think two or three guys were killed in initiation rites and one was turned into a mental vegetable. That's not counting alcohol poisoning, auto accidents, and assaults resulting in death. OU isn't a big university; only had 20,000 or so students. I recall one hazing incident where frat pledges stripped naked and had to attempt to climb a greased flagpole to snag a something from the top. One of them reached the something, but the flagpole snapped and fell onto concrete, killing the pledge on the pole and braining another (who was the one with irrecoverable brain damage). There was "an investigation" launched. Ha. While I'm sure it curtailed some of the hazing for a little bit, it didn't stop it.
The kidnapping initiation doesn't look that weird, honestly.
Why is Claire the one commanding Gretchen to open the locker? Gretchen can get hurt
I was seriously wondering that myself. Several times, Claire makes other people go first. At one point, down the stairs, Gretch makes a point of making Claire go first.
Ah, another utterly unexplicable thing revolving around Sam. Can I shoot him now? I like whoever's idea about teleportation or portals.
Yeah, I hated that. This whole ep was full of unexplained crap. And what frustrates me is that I can think of ways to explain it, but the show let us all down by not doing that explaining!
Sam, the more I hear the word 'family' come out of your mouth, the more I think you have a serious pedophile/family kink PROBLEM. It sounds so damn pervy coming from you. Someone said last week 'cult much?'
OMG! Samuel has a family fetish!!!!
The Ferris Wheel is going backwards, ha!
I thought they did that ... go around frontwards a couple revolutions, then they stop for a little bit, then they go backwards for a couple revolutions. But I really never paid a whole lot of attention. Ferris wheel was one of the rides I liked a lot.
Cute to see Sy reading, though, aww.
Did you see what he was reading? I missed it.
I like that...Sylar gets to live a little through Nathan and that Nathan thinks fondly of someone (admittedly a blond, former bedmate bombshell). It's sweet to see Sylar being...sweet.
Good point about Nathan having fond feelings for her. Also I will point out that Sylar is aware not only of the facts of what happened in Nathan's life, but the emotions. And, if we go by the 'Sylar only has those memories he pulled out of objects' theory, then how does he have this particular memory? How did he get the one about flying jets? Or shaking a lot of hands? Those bits imply a much more holistic 'all the memories Nathan had' sort of thing, not a jumble of object-memories.
Oh, totally, I agree with Sylar not being *actually* attracted to Janice. No, no, no. At the end of the day, he's smart enough to know that she's got emotional ties to Matt and Sylar won't ever fit into that. That's a huge turn-off to him for a real relationship. He had a fun time, everything else is him playing it up for mass effect against Matt. Though, I do think Sylar is very jealous of Matt's life, Janice falls into that category of "things" Matt has that Sylar doesn't or "things" that Matt has managed that Sylar hasn't/hasn't been able to figure out or procure for himself. That might be the smuggest we've seen him for getting laid, but that's about it. He has his reasons for that, too, obviously.
Maybe I've just never been on the Ferris wheel when it went backwards. I don't like that ride so it wouldn't surprise me if I didn't know! All the ones I see in commercials and movies go forwards, though. ::shrugs::
No, I can barely tell what he's reading - book, magazine...Probably the Ferris Wheel manual ;) Just kidding.
SWEET! MBU confirmation! ::happy dance:: I don't see why seeing certain things wouldn't trigger the memory portions of the brain, ability or mind-rape can be considered or not. I mean, Peter? Um...yeah, if Peter uses a freaking Q-tip (an example), Nathan will be reminded of something, I'm sure. They're related, close and they've talked and been through a lot. Nathan practically raised him. Heck, it might even be backwards for Synathan: feeling the emotion before connecting it to the person the emotional feeling stems from. Deja vu type thing, maybe. I dunno.
