Back to the world of the employed!
Okay, I guess I should go ahead and make the announcement - I've accepted a job that starts May 21. It's not the one I didn't want to work at, that gave me the weird vibes. It's instead a place that gave me completely opposite vibes - very strong 'you want to work here, now!' vibes. My boss is someone I worked for before as a temp, who extended a permanent offer to me at that point in time and has expressed several times how much she lives me personally, and as an employee. I like her; I like her boss. I like the people I'd be working with. Good chemistry all around.
The only thing I didn't like was the distance to the workplace, but ... well, I get 40 mpg in my little car and that driving time was always my best time to think about stories I wanted to write. It's almost all highway miles and takes me right by my ex's place, so I can drop off and pick up the kids easily.
I won't be a manager, but there's options for advancement and I'll be paid slightly more than my last job. Plus a $2,500 signing bonus.
