Question about multi-chapter fics and ratings

Apr 22, 2012 13:59

Question to my readers - Let's say I'm publishing a multi-chaptered fic, like ... well, so many of my fics. When I post each update, do I rate it according to the rating of the chapter, or the entire story? For a story with a single plotline, like The Prisoner, Handle with Care, Moral Obligations, etc., this seems obvious, as no one's going to read a single chapter without reading the rest (unless they get bored or quit or something), so I would rate each chapter with the rating of the entire story. But what about Bricks in the Wall, which is a series of stand-alones? Some of them are explicit sex. Some are light-hearted, g-rated fluff. When I post an update to my journal, I rate it by the chapter. But what about when I post an update to sylar_peter comm, which will have links to all the chapters? What rating do I use then?

Does anyone even care, or am I being overly nit-picky?

There's no active mod in sylar_peter, so I can't ask them.
