Weekend plans

Feb 03, 2012 08:29

Yes, for me, it's already the weekend. Today is the last day of my "use it or lose it" work vacation allotment and this time I was caught up enough at work that I don't think there will be a disaster in my absence (or that I'll come back to find that I have to work my ass off making up for the time off over the next week). I have the kids this ( Read more... )

Yay to you getting all kinds of fandom stuff done.

Kudos to being a good mother and setting healthy boundaries and reasonably punishments.

I am very excited by the TNG fic. That's for 13 fears, right?

Sadly, I will miss the re-watch if it's that early. But I'll join in when I get home.

Have a good one!

No, that's Star Trek: The Next Generation. I'm beta'ing for someone else. And that's what I'm starting on now. I got side-tracked trying to stomp out all the formatting glitches FFN decided to put into MBU. Meanie asked me to look at that, which is fine, but it's like a quarter million words of editing! I've made it through the first 75,000 words or so and I'm bored stiff ... so I'll go do that beta before tackling some more.

I figure comments on the rewatch will go back and forth all day, so no worries. What would be a better time for you? I was trying to accommodate clockwork_dalek being in the UK.

Wait, there was smut? What? Where? O_O

How about cutting the grass with hedge clippers? Menial enough?
Did I miss something though, why is he off the computer for the foreseeable future?

I don't envy your Excel/marriage crap. But I offer my nudges to put you in the working mood.

He's 12. He's supposed to go to sleep at night, get 6-10 hours of sleep, and be reasonably prepared to go to school the next day. He tells me he didn't sleep *at all* last night, and instead waited until I went to bed to sneak downstairs and get on the computer. He was on it at 5:30 AM.

This has happened before. He gets plenty of computer time after school and before bed. It's pretty much the primary thing he does. He plays Minecraft and watches Lego and Minecraft YouTube videos. He hasn't hit puberty so he's not wanking off yet.

He knows the rules - when it's bedtime, you go to bed. Very explicitly, he is not allowed to be on the computer after bedtime and before 6 AM. I've told him that if he hears my alarm go off and he wakes up and wants to come down early and get on the computer, that's fine. But of course if I walk out there and he's been there for hours, then he's in trouble ( ... )

I suggest publishing with frosting. Mmmmmmm.

I remember when I was like that! Only...I think I was 14, 15, or a junior in high school. And I quickly learned how precious sleep was. Even if there was unexplored sectors of porn sites.

*Cough*

You know, to some extent, as long as he can get away with it, I don't care. But he didn't get away with it. He got caught. And I know he's going to be dead tired at school today. His teacher has complained about how tired he is some days. My ex (who had the kids over the last weekend) told me my son slept 14 hours straight the first night he was there. (My ex's computer is in his bedroom.)

It's gotta stop. I'm going to have to start confiscating the power cord again.

*nods* Or just password protect.

I tried that. And I must admit I'm so incompetent with a computer that I couldn't work it out. I set up a password, and a window pops up asking for a password when you start the computer, but if you just hit enter, it goes on to work normally like you entered the password. I have no idea why. I think I'll just take the power cord.

That is simpler. If I was there I'd help but, alas, I'm too many states away.
