I've been procrastinating, badly. I have this big boom entry I'm supposed to be writing, got a good idea, and I've been putting it off for, oh, two months now. And it's not because I don't have time to write, as anyone who has been following my journal knows. My beta suggested public shaming and flogging as punishment and the beta is always right*. So here I am. D:
But it's not all that bad. My goal is 1,000 words a day until I'm done with the first draft, then I'll reassess. Right now I have 1,500 words. The story has been going faster than I expected, and the Big Boom minimum is 10,000 words. I figure I'll be done around 15,000 at the current story-feel rate. Due to the fact that I've also got a full time job, two kids and something that passes as a life outside of writing, if I get ahead on any particular day, that will decrease the next day's goal.
So join in and flog me on with getting stuff done right the fuck now (to rip off an entire comm devoted to helping writers avoid procrastinating on their projects).
*Actually, she suggested mutual cheerleading, encouraging whoever might be lurking around our journal to cheer us on. But, you know, cheerleading ... shaming ... do whichever suits your style.
