bah, oh well
Ever since I got Fahrenheit I'd been sort of idly considering picking up a pair of 18mm Neosium/Neodymium Zoukeimura eyes for him. I like the color (or the non-color, I suppose) and I've always been curious about how Zouks look in person, how distinct the alleged color shifting is, etc. etc. I mean, I can read other people's accounts and look at other people's pictures all day, but one thing the doll hobby has taught me is that I have to get out there and make my own personal mistakes before I'll really learn or satisfy my curiosity.
(Please note that I've never actually damaged a doll, but I have painted some stunningly mediocre faceups and bought an awful lot of nonworking wigs and eyes and clothing over the years.)
Anyway, tangent aside, now I find out that the Neodymium eyes are one of the kinds of Zouks that they're discontinuing in September, apparently because the raw material for that particular non-color is getting expensive. I shouldn't really be buying another doll right now, let alone a Volks FCS, and I'm really not interested in paying secondhand prices, so I guess I won't be getting my hands on a pair after all; all in all, the news made me sullen for a couple of minutes.
So I think I'm going to go have a grilled-cheese sandwich for lunch.
