I spent a couple of hours this afternoon mucking around with my new Digital Rebel XTi and I have to say: the difference is astonishing. I took a few test doll shots (nothing worth showing you, believe me) and... and... they were in focus. I have a camera that focuses on doll faces! I-I'm so happy I could cry!
I also splurged on a decent Sigma macro lens. DOLL EYES THE SIZE OF DINNER PLATES. Aheh. One closeup picture of Thomas was marred by the camera picking up dust on his glasses--dust that I can't actually see with the naked eye.
I declared dolltime last night and dressed the dolls for autumn--Beowulf has a three-quarter-length sheepskin pimp coat and Thomas is wearing a tie, which is just about as haplessly cute as it sounds--so maybe tomorrow I'll find the time to haul them downstairs for photos.
(Equally cute: realizing, while in the middle of dressing Thomas, that he was currently wearing tighty-whities, knee-high white crew socks, and an unbuttoned white dress shirt. Just take those old records off the shelf, folks.)
