Yarrr...

So yesterday I went to see Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End with Greg, Ben, and Andrew. This is my review of it, and I'll try to cut it down into the short nonspoiler version, then the long spoiler filled version for those who have already seen the movie, or don't want to and just want to know what went on.

Very Short NonSpoiler Version:
The story was okay, but left something to be desired, since it was very rushed and choppy. The characters were half and half, half pretty awesome, and half that just didn't do what they're character would actually do, And others were down right useless. So much backstabbing went on, it was exhausting. Music was still awesome, very epic and fitting for pirates.

All in all, if you have seen Dead Man's Chest, and want to see the ending, go see At Worlds End, but do it on a cheap night. Oh, btw, if the screen blacks out, close your eyes for a second, you'll thank me. And stay after the credits.

WARNING: When I say Spoilers, I'm not kidding. This pretty much details the ENTIRE movie. Ok?

Okay, lets start with Characters, this is where most of my problems lie.
Jack Sparrow and Hector (Yes, Hector, less cool) Barbosa, you guys were awesome. Still just as entertaining and full of crazy as ever. Jack more so because he was driven a bit more crazy at Davy Jones Locker, what with having a whole crew of just himself that he kept killing. Oh an Davy, you were still pretty cool, Bill Nighy always gets good marks from me, even in underworld.
But you, Will Turner, Elizabeth Swann, Tia Dalma, Norrington, and Sao Feng, you can all get off my bus.
Will and Elizabeth, I have never seen 2 characters take such a huge 180 in personality. When did Will become evil? And when did Elizabeth become so important that they decide to make her both the captain of the singapore pirates and the pirate king?
Norrington, way to be on screen for 15 minutes then die. You too, Sao Feng. You were both pretty disposable, weren't you? You do one thing to help out, and then die.
And Tia Dalma, or Callisto if you will, Yeah you were cool and interesting. You were the keeper of the strange, brought back Barbosa, and ended up being Davy Jones long lost love (If that wasn't obvious from the second movie). But when you turn into Callisto, wtf?? You get really really big, say something completely incoherent, turn into a ton of stone crabs (She's got Crabs!), then what do you do? You cause a big storm and whirlpool for this final showdown, and then we never hear from you again. Once again, you serve your one purpose, then disappear.
It seems that this story was suffering from overload of characters. So many just did one thing to help the 4 main characters, then conveniently disappeared.

Speaking of the story, lets look at that next. Wow, the switching of sides and back stabbing that went on was so utterly confusing! Who was doing what for what, or who?? Can't they just stick with one ship? Geez, is this an attempt at plot twists, because it didn't work that well.
And the pieces of eight, if you're going to have that in the movie you should explain that pieces of eight is pirate slang for those silver coins, or treasure in general, so that people (my other movie companions for example) aren't confused about why there are nine pieces of eight. That they turn out to be junk because the original brethren were broke at the time, was really quite funny. ("Why didn't they change the name?" "To What? Nine Pieces of whatever we happened to have on us at the time?" XD)
And Elizabeth's plot never ceased to annoy me. It really felt that they were pushing for her to become the main character, she almost overshadowed Jack. They make her the deciding factor on a lot if plot points, and go so far as having them make her the 'Pirate King.' It just seemed that everything was coming back to her, every character was involved with or mentioned her way to often. Sorry writers, Kiera's not THAT good.
As for their ending, I wasn't pleased that they made Will take Davy Jones place. That just seems like a bit of a disappointing ending for these two, what with only being able to see eachother for one day every 10 years. How Becket died was kind of silly, it was like 'Oh Noes! My plan didn't work out! Well, I guess I'll just stand here looking shocked and confused while my ship blows up.' O.o Right. Oh and I felt they left it open for at least a spin off.

That's all I can think of right now. Keep in mind, that was all a rant of the things I Didn't like. I'm not saying the Movie was horrible, It was still really funny and entertaining, with good fight scenes. But of the trilogy, this was my least favorite. I say it was a 3.5/5
