Anyone buy a PS3?
I wonder if my brother did... he's been incommunicundo lately, so it's possible he camped out to get the new system. But... I think I prefer the Nintendo Wii >D

On Tuesday I went to the Nintendo Wii pre-release play event, which started with a press conference followed by public play and a chance to win a Wii in a draw. The line-up openned at 11:30, and I in my geekiness showed up at 11:45am to line up as the 40th person... and then proceeded to wait for hours to play the Wii. Stuck it out alone at first, but then jlunar stopped by to chat and then we were joined by her friend Sunny and my coworker Ry and chatted it up geekstyles. Jlunar and I pictochatted - but most ppl that joined ran away 'cuz they were afraid of our art skillz yo XD;;; And then Ry was the only one out of our quad to win an express pass to some dudes doing nintendo trivia. And the question I failed? Who was Star Fox's arch enemy? OMG I TOTALLY BLANKED. Of course, I know the answer now... but WAH! Even though I did know when Nintendo Power started publishing ;___; (1989) So, I resigned to waiting. And waiting. Until 1:40pm they let the first wave of 30 people in - which was not impressive because no one said a word to us about timed admittance. It's a school day, so of the 60-70 people it was mostly university kids, hardcore kids (one super nerd was there with his mom!), some young adults (like moi), and a surprising representation of *gasp* ADULTS. I'd say the average age there was like 29. For Nintendo, that's old - it's really more of the PS3 and Xbox age group. But again, Nintendo whispered about and event and picked a school day to host it. Right. Then media got let in, and got media shots of themselves playing the system than actual, oh, gamers, playing it. Well... lets' just say that I, amoung others, was not impressed with Nintendo's outsourced event planning.

When we finally got in, it was a room lined with Wii play stations with a helper assigned to two who was in charge of handing over and wiping the controller, telling you how to play the game (as well as egging you on), and timing your game play. Practically every game that's coming out for the Wii was up for play - though I only made it to Super Monkeyball, Raymans Raving Rabbids and ZELDA ♥ - where you get to play in WOLF MODE ♥♥♥. I gotta say, it actually doesn't take long AT ALL to learn how to use the new remote and controller combo and I had a lot of fun. The tilt and motion sensing is quite sensitive and really gets you involved in the game play - and the design is intuitive once you know where which buttons are and break the box of current controller design.

Anyways... I'm trying to decide what my next gadget splurge will be on. I like the Nintendo Wii, and there are a couple games I would play on it - only I don't have time to sit and play games too much lately :( Especially the ones I already have, and haven't finished yet. I haven't even bought FFXII yet *twitch* >___<;; But, I really want a new digicam because mine is 7yrs old now, the battery isn't holding charge like it used to, and I've got a few dead pixels (horror!). Then again, I also want a new mp3/pictureviewer/ebookreader/flashgameplayer/videoplayer/flashmemory portable awesomeness that is the iriver u10 - with 4GB and tv-like cradle ♥ Because not only is it an awesome all-in-one, and design-wise beats the pants off any ipod (IMO), but I can also use it for flash game dev - something I've been itching to get into. If I buy it it'll give me another kick in the pants to get on with the dev.

I wants them all *____*

Which to buy... or hint at for present? XD;;; (hehe)
