Dear Yuletide Author

This Yuletide letter is basically a rehashing of previous letters with just new details for this year's requests.

Dear Yuletide Author of Mine,

The very fact that you have offered to write in one of my requested fandoms already means that you are totally awesome. Thank you so much! I enjoy a wide variety of fic. Het, slash, gen, smut, it's pretty much all good for me. I like strong characterization, exploration of relationships between characters, angst (oh how I love angst), and bittersweet endings. But I'd love humor if the situation warrants. My dislikes are the usual: non-con, incest, character death, etc.

Boilerplate - An unchronicled adventure.

I really adore the conceit of the creation of Boilerplate and the supposed genius of its inventor, Archibald Campion. The website and coffeetable book both create a history where the "mechanical man" aided in many of history's greatest events in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, before disappearing without a trace during WWI. What I'd like to see is an unchronicled adventure, maybe something covert that BP was sent to do, or maybe what really happened to him during his supposed last mission to give aid to the Lost Battalion. Canon refreshing is fairly simple for this. Here's the original website where Boilerplate's history is chronicled. Much of it is rehashed in the Boilerplate book. But anything about history's first robot soldier would be much appreciated!

Chew - The perks of being a cibopath.

As far as Tony is concerned, his powers have always been seen as a kind of curse. He's pretty miserable and angry much of the time, mostly because everyone else wants to take advantage of him. I'd like this story to explore the good things about psychic tasting powers. It doesn't have to be about Tony necessarily, that's why I didn't choose characters. But any of the characters with cibo-type powers could be featured. Actually I just want fic of any sort about this comic. It's been one of my favorites since it first started.

A Very Peculiar Practice - Misandry is a myth.

I really like this show and the way it skirts the edge between serious drama and outrageous satire bordering on farce. Rose Marie's character is fascinating to me, in the way she champions the principles of feminism while at the same time embodying the man-hating feminist stereotype. Faced with this, Steven is uncomfortable around Rose Marie, I think because he was in a loveless marriage himself and struggles to keep his current relationships with women from going sour. It's interesting that he's attracted to women who are strong and opinionated (Lyn and Grete) and yet, he finds Rose Marie off-putting. I think maybe if Steven and Rose Marie got together, they might find some kind of common ground...

Jeremiah - Thunder Mountain (re)discovers social media.

Maybe the timeline for The Big Death and the subsequent fall of civilization is a little off, but I think it would be cute if the denizens of Thunder Mountain discovered a Facebook or Twitter-like program somewhere in the computer databases. What would happen once they're able to share their thoughts with everyone else instantaneously?

Since my Dreamwidth has been (sadly) neglected as of late, you may find my Tumblr a little more helpful in observing my tastes. As you can see, my fandom interests are pretty eclectic.

And please keep in mind that these are only suggestions for my requests. If you find the muse takes you to somewhere different, then please follow that instead of my weak-kneed, fandom ramblings. Best of luck to you!
