Finally, a post!

So, my Christmas holiday ended today. And I have an exam next Monday, and another the Monday after. It feels very soon after all the mocks before the holidays, but what can you do? But optimism is a good policy for 2009, so let's not delve any deeper into that.

I felt like I was getting up insanely early this morning (after two weeks of waking up abysmally late) but I was actually not tired. Even though I couldn't sleep and stayed up later into the night reading. Oh well, the body works in strange ways I suppose. Today was quite average on the whole, but good!

I have watched so many films recently (eight already, and it's only five days into the year!), including, finally, The Fall. artic_fox recommended it to me way back in October, and it has taken almost three months to see it. But I have.

It's an incredibly beautiful, surreal and wonderful film. I adore the relationship between Alexandria, the young girl, and Roy, a fellow patient at the hospital. And everyone's right, Catinca Untaru (who plays the girl) does a wonderful job, especially because she's so young and speaking in a second language. The scenes between her and Lee Pace seemed so real and unstaged, it was barely like watching a film at all. And the rest of it is just incapturing! I am very impressed with it, and I really hope it gets released in a more widespread sort of way. I recommend it highly!

Of course, everyone's buzzing about the Eleventh Doctor (um, does everyone know? Well, if you do, you'll know to who I'm referring, and if you don't, you won't find out here I guess). I've already voiced opinions on him elsewhere (mostly at other people's journals) but basically, my thoughts:

  • I hope he's very different from Ten
  • The fact that he's young could be so very awesome and interesting if handled correctly
  • He seems like a good actor, with a lot of potential, so I don't see why he won't play the part well
  • I hope he has different kinds of companions
  • I need to watch more of him in action (necessary fangirling, no?)
  • I hope the freaking conflict this has caused will die down eventually, although I can see it getting awful in 2010 D:
  • Positivity people! Yes! I hope fandom stays positive!
Okay then, I'm going to peruse my flist, then go and continue watching The New World which I took a spontaneous break from to post. IDK why, but posting was on my list of things to do today, and so needed doing. Yes, I'm that kind of person ;)

holiday, exams, doctor who, the fall, movies, eleventh doctor, the doctor
