My room smells faintly of coffee and success

Oct 24, 2008 21:43

I have now spilt two full mugs of coffee (so ignore my icon) over my desk and lap in the past fortnight. Luckily, I managed to get my laptop out of the way in both occasions, although it was a different laptop each time. It seems something's trying to make me ruin at least one of them with a hot beverage.

But that doesn't matter, because I finally finished my essay! I've been working through this the whole week, which was supposed to be a holiday, but ended up not really feeling that way. But I am surprisingly pleased with it, so I'm optimistic for once! :)

Anyways, I promised to post pictures of Kaiser Chiefs in concert which was nearly a week ago now, but this year I'm actually going to. Last year I did not.

^The inside of Demontfort Hall; it's quite pretty really. The place was packed, as is evident, but we were standing below all those people. We about the third row from the stage which really close! But clearly I'm not tall enough to take a picture without getting annoyingly!tall woman's head in the frame. D:

^Ahh, the lights. This is when they turned the smoke machine deal on prior to the actscoming on. It was a nice effect.

^The empty stage before The Hair come on, one of the support acts. I have no pictures of them; in fact most of the pictures are on M's phone and she hasn't uploaded them yet, which is a shame. So, if I do eventually get them, I'll update this post.

^Late of the Pier! They were awesome! Here you can see the keyboard player and lead singer. He was wearing a maroon velvet t-shirt which I totally covet.

^Here you can see the whole band. I really recommend them, because they're all electro insanity, and kind of '80s reminiscent, which I suppose is my favourite decade for music. That and the early '90s. I will definitely be getting their album.

^A swishy picture taken by D, who was the third member of our party.

^After them it was time for the Chiefs! This is all of their stage equipment, plus random backstage man adjusting the mike. Two for one!

^Everyone was getting really excited when the really bright lights came on. Last year we were way off in the seats, so this time around, being standing, the atmosphere was so much more contagious. It was so easy to become part of the crowd.

^And then they were there! That is lead singer Ricky Wilson waving to the screaming crowd.

^A quite blurry picture of them singing. Stupid taller than me everyone are in most of the pictures, although M, who's about 5 inches taller than me kindly took some using my camera.

^Gasp! I didn't even know that I took this. But it's pretty, if incomprehensible. :)

^This came out nicely. You can see the whole band: guitar, drums, keyboard, singer, guitar. They did a nice mix between the songs from their new album Off With Their Heads, and their past two. The new album is incredible! Mine finally came in the post yesterday. It's a special edition, that's essentially a little book, with two CDs in the back. I am very happy with it. :D I don't know how they keep coming up with original and generally amazing songs though.

^This is a picture M took. Yes, that's how close we were O____O

^I  think Ricky is in mid-jump here. He kept leaping into the crowd, and even gave this little girl a piggy back at one point. I'm not sure what a five-year old was doing in the crowd, but whatever.

^It was bright as well as loud! Sure, I was partially blinded, deafened, thirsty as heck with hurting legs and feet from five hours of standing, but I'd do again if I could at the soonest oppurtunity. Kaiser Chiefs are simply brilliant live.

^And as a bonus at the end, one of the backstage runners (actually the guy in the 7th picture) threw us the foam end of Ricky's microphone. When the band had cleared off, some people hung round the stage for a few minutes. We were rewarded for this! I can't believe he decided to throw it at us, but I dived for it, and now it's ours. Although It was kind of moist from singing-into-all-night saliva. XD
So, basically I had a great Sunday! The rest of my week has been very mundane, mostly involving me, sitcoms, panel shows and my shiny new laptop. On the plus side, my brother's visiting again tomorrow; so here's looking forward to Saturday.
