Tòmbolo

A few weeks ago I made a DVD copy of an obscure 1947 Italian film Tombolo, paradiso nero for a woman whose father had had a tiny appearance in it as a GI in postwar Italy. She wanted to find the rare movie and show it to him as a Christmas surprise. This morning I found this nice e-mail from her and it made me feel as good as Santa:

Gerry,

Happy Holidays! Just wanted to let you know that my father was very surprised and excited when he saw the movie title on the TV. The look on his face was the best Christmas present of my entire life. The entire family sat through the whole movie, (which was interesting to say the least) just hoping to spot Dad. Every one was attempting to translate at some point, and Dad was commenting on the different scenes, evoking some long forgotten memories. We kept watching and waiting for the American soldiers and finally towards the very end, there was a scene with 3 soldiers, backs to the camera. We eliminated two right off the bat and the third may have been Dad, but we still aren't sure because it was so long ago. Regardless of our uncertainty; it will probably be the most memorable Christmas having three generations sharing the same experience with a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather!

Thank you so much for making this Christmas so very special!
My best to you and yours for a Happy and Prosperous New Year.

Mary
