Five years.
At the end of the day five years ago today, when I was still teaching high school, I penned this brief entry in my personal handwritten diary. I didn't feel like writing much but I reproduce it here anyway. Perhaps others can reproduce their thoughts from that day.
Tuesday, September 11, 2001.
HORROR! Attack on World Trade Center and Pentagon by terrorists - hijacked planes. Bloody awful. I heard about it during my morning free period. I couldn't access CNN on the school computer in language office. Brother Michael (president of La Salle) confirmed to me details of downed buildings. Kids upset. One student grim and catatonic.
I sit glued to TV for 7 hours as the images unfold. Humanity at its worst. This ends Europe trips, even NYC trips this year.
