5th Anniversary of La Salle trip To Italy.

The above photo of the soaring gull was taken by Michael Coutts, La Salle class of 2003, while touring Italy with our group of students and adults five years ago in 2001. Later that year he framed it and gave it to me as a wonderful Christmas gift. It shall stand as a symbol of that trip. The tour of Venice, Florence, Assisi, Sorrento, Capri, Pompeii, Rome began ominously on a Friday the 13th in April. There were a few annoyances: a canceled flight, a nearly-missed flight, some lost and delayed luggage, a few predictable dramas that occur when a sizable group travels abroad together, including a mysteriously lost passport. But there were also some fine opportunities to see and savor Italy's great sites first-hand in a spirit of friendship and fun.
