So today is the last day of Passover....at sundown the eating of the break can begin. Every year during the first Seder you are supposed to say "next year in Jerusalem." In Israel they obviously do not say that. The saying is bittersweet in the sense that on my part at least I know that I will not be in Jerusalem next year. When my family was still living in Russia, every New Year my parents would say next year in America. The saying is virtually the same but the meanings are different. Anyways just something that I've been thinking about lately.
On a brighter note however, since Passover does not allow the consumption of any yeast products drinking posed to be a challenge last weekend. Although the challenge was somewhat alleviated but the fact that I was sick it was still a challenge. On saturday night my Jewish friend aka Luke, my roommate, and I decided to drink Kosher for Passover wine and listen to Israeli music. In case none of you have ever had Kosher wine let me just say that it is the sweetest thing it the entire world. It is impossible to drink without getting a sugar rush. After a bottle and a half my friends and I decided to give up and smoke a hookah. Smoking a hookah we felt was very middle eastern there fore it went along with our theme of the night. All in all it was a great night. Thus, this year as Passover comes to an end I will have fond memories of drinking ultra sweet wine and smoking hookah.
