April 20, 1938
The Fuhrer, Adolf Hitler, has invited guests far and wide to celebrate his birthday with a ball at the Reich Chancellory. A white tie affair, he has invited guests from all stratas of society, the services, the diplomatic service, notable foreigners in Berlins and a few lucky people chosen at random from the populace. A well known local BDM and HJ choir is to perform, the children lucky enough to attend the first part of the ball to see their fuhrer.
The Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler ring the chancellory; resplendant in their dress uniforms, their eyes on guard for any sign of misbehavior. They are alert for anything undue at this event. Such a diverse group has never been invited to the chancellory before. 1000 people, to celebrate the leader of the thousand year reich. There is no dinner, just apertifs, the presentation of the Fuhrer and the dance. Rooms overflow with alcohol, food and various entertainments. Two enormous ballrooms, one with traditional music and dancing, one with a full orchestra for ballroom favourites such as the waltz.
Ladies glitter in jewels and gowns. Men in every uniform in Germany and brushed tuxedos circulate the rooms. Faces sparkle with wine and merriment.
Hitler is presented to the crowd. Everyone roars his name. Heil Hitler. Heil Hitler! He raises his arms and makes a short speech in thanks for the attendance.
The Ball has begun.
