They've closed my project

The managers of our company decided to close the project that I've been working on for the past year.
It's not that it isn't going well, because it is. From a vector which gave little if any expression, I got to several final clones with 2-6 pcd (picogram per cel per day), now going into stability tests. And I got to produce more than half a miligram(!) of pure protein. That's alot.

Just for comparison, a different project, which started a year and a half ago, is still in clone selection stage, and in another project, which began about 8 months ago, we still don't have a good expression vector.

So why do they close this project? Because the protein is already patented by another company.
We're fairly certain that they aren't advanced as we regarding production, and yet the managers feel that the other projects are more important.

Damn.
