I now have a last.fm account, which is basically one of them social networking sites, except the neat thing is that it's based on the music you listen to.

How it works: You download an open-source plug-in for your mp3 player (they support iTunes, WinAmp, and a few others) which sends only title and artist information on what you're listening to at your computer. From this information, a list is generated of both ppl with similar musical tastes and also of similar music you haven't heard but might like. You can also get a customized web radio feed playing said similar music. There's also the usual community stuff such as friends lists (see what music your friends are playing), forums, etc.

Good selection of j-rock, I must say. I will state up front I do not own the Gackt songs listed in my playlist- those were songs from the web radio feed.
