More on Family, Genealogy, and Dreams

So what I was getting to and couldn't finish yesterday was that I realized, for the first time, that lots of these people weren't just like their photos (or their imagined photos, since we don't know what most of them looked like). And they were human, and had their bad days and good days, and headaches, and they suffered from arthritis and had issues with their kids or their parents, and, in short, weren't much like their pictures at all. And, oddly, it was the first time I'd really thought of it for everyone on the list.

I've got an occasional genealogical portrait that talks about this guy who appropriated land from his family members, etc. Most of the "good guys" don't have a lot said about them. But it reminds me that I should take the time to write what I know about the family members who do have stories, good or bad, and get it down on paper before I've forgotten or I am not around to tell it. Why? Because someday someone else might look at these names and wonder what that person (or I) was like. Here's another odd thought: after I'm gone, I suppose these postings might still be around... or perhaps not... but it's odd to realize that stuff like this doesn't just cease to exist when we move on.
