I want to go and I'd love to see you, but it's looking like I'll either have just had surgery the week before or scheduled to have surgery the following week - so it's just too much to deal with right now. I figure it's a long shot I'll be able to sell my ticket, but worth a try. It was just an impulsive purchase in the first place.

I'll email you about the surgery when I'm ready to supply details. Suffice it to say I'm extremely optimistic (early detection and all that), but it still sucks in virtually every possible way.
