Title: Oliver
Genre: Post-513, Daddy!Fic, Fluff
Summary: Brian and Justin's lives post 513, focusing mainly on raising the newest addition to their family, their son, Oliver.
Timeline: 2013--->
Notes: This story will have 100 'sections', and is based upon the fanfic 100 table, but I'll be rearranging some of it a bit. You can find it here-->
Oliver Master Post Table Basically, this story is meant to be a breather for me while I finish my original novel. Each section will be at least 500 words, and with 100 sections, that will mean I will reach the 50,000 nanorwrimo goal when it's completed.
This story is a thank you for all of you fanfiction readers who have stuck by me for so long. Sections, aka, chapters, will probably be posted quite rapidly as I usually like to get my fist 50,000 nanorwimo words out of the way. I wanted to give you something back that would be a 'feel good' story. Enjoy!
Chapter 2:
Oliver
Chapter 2: "Middles"
“We agreed. You chose his first name and I choose the middle name.” I can’t stand the name, Giorgio but I think Pablo sounds decent with it.
“We agreed, but I never thought you’d choose Pablo!”
“Giorgio Pablo Taylor-Kinney.” Okay, so the whole name sounds ugly and pretentious.
“Andy, Edgar, Paul,” Brian drones.
“You hate those names.”
“They’re better than Pablo.”
“Salvador?”
“I’d kill you, but I’ll wait for him to grow up and do it.”
“I hate the name Giorgio,” I tell him. “No matter what middle name he has, he isn’t going to survive a day at school with a name like Giorgio. Unless we actually lived in Italy, but we don’t.”
“What do you have against Italian names?”
“Oh, shut up! We are not Italian. I’m Scottish and you’re Irish.”
“That has nothing to do with it.”
I kneel in front of Brian’s chair and rest my hands on his knees. “The labels that we wear do not need to define us or our kid, nor do the artists who inspire me. He doesn’t have be named after anyone either of admires, because we’ll admire him for who he is, all on his own.”
“Yeah,” he says quietly, holding my eyes before tipping his head down to look at our little boy in his arms. “You’re the one with a talent for naming, so name him.”
The most memorable things I’ve named are Kinnetik, Britin and Rumor- the collection of art that made me a millionaire, it was said the name alone drew crowds and critiques from all around the world. Giving a child a name is different. When I saw Brian looking at Gus, when I heard the suggestions of names, they were already thought of and I just gave my opinion. It was a big deal to know that my opinion on the name was valued, but it didn’t come from me first.
I look at our baby, his body disappearing in a ridiculously expensive Armani knit outfit and blanket. He looks so fragile and precious, it’s overwhelming. His long dark lashes begin to move against his chubby cheeks and then his eyes open and my breath catches as I see the color of his eyes for the second time. Sometimes in the sunshine, Brian’s eye color will look like our son’s does now. It’s such a unique color, with more of a greenish blue tint than brown. It reminds me of a new tube of paint I bought called, oliver. Hmm… Oliver. I think I like that name. “Oliver,” I test hearing it aloud.
“Huh?” Brian asks.
“His name, Oliver.”
Brian gives me a goofy smile. “You’d be okay with him possibly having the nickname, Olly?”
“Sure.” I like both names.
“Okay. And the middle name?”
“Taylor.”
“You don’t want to hyphenate our last names?”
“No, it’ll be confusing for him at school.”
“Welcome to the world, Oliver Taylor Kinney.”
I lean over and kiss Brian’s lips and then our son’s cheek. “Hi, Olly.”
*extra: The outfit Brian bought for Oliver.
I actually thought that there was no way I'd find Armani clothing when I googled it. (I knew they made Prada though so I shouldn't have been surprised.) I was happy to see that I was wrong. But then I thought, who would pay 250 dollars for something a baby will grow out of in a month or less? Then I remembered who I was 'shopping' for, a Kinney. Brian's obsession with buying Oliver expensive items will be a running theme in this story.
