I was moving Mum back to her place yesterday, now that she's doing better, and I got away too late to make it back in time for my weigh in. So now I'll have to wait till next week to find out how I'm doing, because I'm not working tonight.
I'm off out shortly to take DD1 to see Justin (see icon) Heazelwood (aka The Bedroom Philosopher) perform his "Songs From the 86 Tram". This was the show I loved so much at my last Comfest in 2009.
The album of the songs came out recently and has been getting some airplay. So, Just is touring the show and has decided to bring it to Perth. Not sure how much of an audience this Melbourne-centric show will find here, but those who venture out will be in for a real treat. It will make sense to anybody who's ever used public transport (or public/community anything, for that matter). The characters are real and recognisable. Justin plays all roles and sings his all-original songs on their behalf.
It was a brilliant show in its first run and well deserved the "Director's Choice" award at the festival. I'm keen to see how it goes with another year or so of stage experience and polish on it.
We couldn't NOT go. This is JUSTIN! We've been devoted fans since we first saw him supporting Tripod many years ago down in Bunbury and have followed his growing career with delight. He's a truly lovely human being besides being a very talented young man. We're proud to know him. That said, I'd best get myself ready. The gig's about an hour's drive from here and we'll want to get to the Indi in time to have something to eat in the bistro before we go into the adjoining show venue.
Perth peeps, if you're not going to the Indi bar tonight, why not? It's only $10 a ticket and the show is excellent.
