"I think the cool journey for Ethan is-- when something traumatic happens, can he find his way back? How does that look? Especially because he loves his son dearly, and that may be a motivating factor."
But his son is dabbling in witchcraft-- witchcraft which was supposed to be abolished in the town; witchcraft which is ultimately responsible for the death of a woman who should have been with Ethan (if you believe the whole "written in the stars" thing). It's going to be a lot for Ethan to deal with, even without coming to blows with Charles (Gale Harold), which Harrington teased will be "coming," too.
