Yes, I am still up at 3:15 in the morning watching the Academy Awards 2009. But it is the first time I have watched the Oscars, and I'll be damned if I don't watch it live or have to settle for the highlights.
Well, the red carpet, that was just as good as the actual award ceremony. I watched Ferne Cotton's cover on Sky 1, and I have to say I love her, I just think she's great.
Kate Winslet. She looked amazing in my opinion, and was so sweet when Ferne interviewed her. She is long overdue for an Oscar.
And Amanda Seyfried and Amy Adams' dresses I adored, I just love red dresses and they were beautiful.
But the one thing I cannot decide is which was more adorable: the kids from Slumdog Millionaire or Rob Pattinson's little 'hi, mum' when Ferne called him over. Seriously. It's unbelievable.
Right. Hugh Jackman. I loved the first ten minutes he had as host, but after that I didn't find it was anything special. I thought the first song was brilliant, with Anne Hathaway's contribution making it go from good to great.
Oh jeez. Oh God. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button just got another one. Visual Effects. I mean come on! Urgh. It beat out Iron Man and The Dark Knight. Arg, IRON MAN FTW!
Ooh, The Dark Knight just got one. I love that movie. :D
Hey, there goes Slumdog Millionaire. Haven't seen it yet, but cool.
Anyway, Steve Martin and Tina Fey presenting I thought were hilarious, 'don't fall in love with me' ha, I loved that. But typically, I loved Rob Pattinson. I mean, I'm female, I'm a teenager, and I love the book and movie of Twilight. I'm biased. So sue me. I just thought he was so adorable, and the remark about having to become a vampire, for no real reason, I loved to bits. Ha.
But the acceptance speech I've liked best so far is the first one of the entire night, Penelope Cruz. I just think it's so nice when they get emotional (don't ask me why) and her speech was so well thought-out and moving. Also, I ended up crying when Heath Ledger's family came up to accept his Award for best supporting actor, because he really did deserve it, and I think it's so disrespectful and just plain horrible when people say that he was only nominated because he died, when he was actually fantastic in the role. I really think he would have got it if he was here today, because he was that good. There are a lot of people who would disagree, but that's just my opinion.
Now I'm really just waiting for the Best Picture award, and keeping my fingers crossed that it is Slumdog Millionaire that walks away with it.
