These were as much of the lyrics as I could find. Which was none. They are non-existent. So this is all taken down by ear. Apologies for discrepancies.
I grow old
I shall wear the bottom of my trousers rolled
says Elliott
I grow old
I shall wear the bottom of my trousers rolled
says Elliott
Days keep growing short
Nights too
Let us go then, you and I
And try to unlearn
says Elliott
He seeks for return
& burns ancient love letters
Let us go then, you and I
and lie by a marble stone
says Elliott
And put a record on the grammophone
Lie down, dear . .
Don't weep, dear . .
Gaily clad, sadness is . .
says Elliott
Sadness is a long, round ribbon
says he
Sadness is beautiful
I grow old
I shall wear the bottom of my trousers rolled
says Elliott
I grow old
I shall wear my trousers rolled
says Elliott
This is the only song that I have listened to in a long time that I find truly beautiful. Probably because Sibylle Baier was quoting T.S. Eliot, but it's more than that.. Her voice is so full of sorrow and sincerity.. The first time I heard it, I cried. I was in the car with Sarah in Whittier. I was so excited because I found it when Daniel and I had gone to Tower Records for their closing sale. I didn't know it would be this good. If anyone likes poetry, or T.S. Eliot, or anything beautiful, read :
The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock by T.S. Eliot
Then, listen to Sibylle Baier's song called "Says Elliott".
I don't know, maybe I'm the only that finds this music really beautiful. She doesn't have the best voice in the world. The song is incredibly simple and repetitive. But beautiful. I can't say it enough.
Beautiful.
