This was too good not to share.
Today, I had yoga class. I was lost in thought as I walked out to my car, reaching for my keys, and by autopilot I clicked unlocked and reached for the handle. Simultaneously, I realized that even though the door was unlocked, I didn't hear the beep that unlocks it. Immediately after this moment, I realize that there is a young woman sitting in my drivers seat, reading a book. Immediately after this moment, I realize that I have walked up to her car and barged right on in. After making eight hundred flustered apologies and explaining to a very surprised lady that we both have the same kind of car, I made my hastily mortified exit toward my own car, two vehicles over.
I don't think it's that uncommon to approach a car in a parking lot, only to realize it isn't your own. If your head was really in the clouds, you could even put your key in the lock and wonder why it doesn't work. Fortunately, these cars usually don't have people sitting in them. I'm adding this to my Most Embarassing Moments list. Awesome.
