I did lots of stuff this weekend.
After work on Satyrday, I watched a movie with
_chandra, George, and
marcusdkat that contained many references to feces, incest, vomit, and acts of sin so incredible it would scar my journal recording them all. It starred over a hundred of your favorite comedians, from George Carlin, Sarah Silverman, and Gilbert Gottfried, to Phyliss Diller, Eric Idle, and the Smothers Brothers. It was called
The Aristocrats, and I think it was pure genius. I couldn't stop laughing for most of it. It is fabulously filthy, divinely disgusting, and it pushes every button you have (and crosses some lines you didn't realize you had).
The movie is a documentary about a single dirty joke that's been around for so long that even the Vaudevillians used to repeat it. The joke itself isn't really funny, but its legend has grown in the telling and has become a kind of secret handshake amongst comedians. I highly recommend it, but it is not for those of a weak mental constitution. As Jake Johanssen said it about The Aristocrats: I think you can put people to death for what goes on in the best versions of this joke.
After the movie,
skygypsy joined me at home for a viewing of the movie Go, which was thoroughly enjoyed. So between The 40 Year Old Virgin, The Aristocrats, and Go, I did a whole lot of laughing in a short period of time. It is such a great release!
Most of Sunday was spent in Wellington working on MXG stuff, and Sunday night was dinner at DaDa's with
skygypsy,
soulhiatus and her boyfriend Christian. (happy birthday
soulhiatus!) Christian knows a lot about controversial topics, so I'd love to see him and Marti sit down one night and just chat about it all. Dinner was delicious, and dessert was insane: the proprietor of the place sent us the chocolate fondue, creme brulee, and a bowl of ice cream with lots of whipped cream goodness, so we were joyously overwhelmed with calories.
I look forward to being home from work tonight, just so I can take the time to do laundry and watch a good movie on teevee.
Anyhow, here's the new teaser for
Thumbsucker with a better listen to the new song by the Polyphonic Spree, enjoy!
