H'okay, well now for my sort of promised entry.
Yesterday I met up with
alias_chick to go check out "The Dark Knight". We were meeting at 2 at City Centre, but I ended up getting there a bit early so I wandered around for a bit. We met up at the theater and more or less immediately got "in line." We were the first. XD
While there we noticed a chick that had "Supernatural.tv" written on her bag! Yay! There was also a fellow dressed up as the Joker there (more cartoon/comic Joker than DK one). So we waited in line, chatted, listened to the incessant chatter of an uber-nerd behind us: "Have you ever heard of Star Wars?"
...
I kid you not.
Anyhoo, there was more waiting, and then the movie!
Trailers:
"Watchmen": OMG Wow. It looks SO good. I still haven't finished the book, but they got the visuals just perfect. I cannot wait to see it. *flail*
"Body of Lies" (?) I think that was the title. It's a new Leonardo DiCaprio movie. Russel Crowe's in it too. It seems like your typical think-y, plot-y movie that those guys are in. Kind of like a Bourne Identity thing, but with the military... Anyhoo, looks pretty neat.
"Terminator: ... something" I don't recall the subtitle, but yeah, new Terminator film with Christian Bale as John Connor. More of a teaser than anything, but looks interesting. Takes place in the future where the war is going on.
Those are the only ones I really wanted to see. There's a remake of "The Day The Earth Stood Still" with Keanu Reeves in it, and they randomly showed a preview for a cutesy D*sney movie in there too... Which was odd.
On to "The Dark Knight." I was expecting so much from this movie, and it surpassed everything. With Heath Ledger's death, I was worried that all the hype about his possibly getting an Oscar and how amazing the movie is was just everyone being politically correct about the whole tragedy, but I'm happy to find that that's not the case. This really is an amazing movie. It's not just good for a super hero/comic movie, it's great as a movie on it's own.
The thing had a massive running time. We went to the 3:20 show and didn't leave the theater until about 6:10pm. The thing is though, it didn't feel that long. In fact, when it ended, I didn't want it to.
Christian Bale was great, of course. Michael Cain is just adorable as Alfred again. Aaron Eckhart as Harvey Dent was superb. I really quite enjoyed Gyllenhal(sp?) as Rachel Dawes this time... I could not stand Katie Holmes in the last movie. We even got a little bit of Cillian Murphy again! Naturally, loved Gary Oldman as Gordon again. And of course, there's Heath Ledger's Joker, which was the standout character. I don't know if it's that he had more scenes or just that they stood out more, but I mostly recall the Joker scenes from the movie rather than the Batman ones.
Also, I no longer feel like a psycho when I laugh at something that is technically quite wrong/disturbing, 'cause in this case, the entire theater was doing the same thing. And it happened a lot.
Basically, I don't want to say TOO much for those who haven't seen it yet, but yeah, awesome movie. I LOVED it.
First in line, Bitchez!
All those people milling around in the back? Yeah, that was part of the line up when we came out of the theater. It wrapped around the lobby.
My sexy new poster! A gift from
alias_chick In other news, you may have noticed my layout has changed.... :B Still needs a bit of work done, but I swear this is the most work I've ever done on a layout before. >.> All those freakin' cards... And I think this is my first non-Supernatural layout in like 2 years.
