I had a wild ride of a weekend. On Friday, I drove through the teeth of rush hour traffic to get down to Denver for my choir's performance, and then was fed excellently by an alto in the choir (and her husband) who hosted a post-concert party.
On Saturday, in perfect spring weather I bicycled down to Naropa campus to see the Gamelatron installation, which was part of Communikey, Boulder's annual festival of electronic arts. The Gamelatron is a full gamelan orchestra, but with electronically controlled robotic arms attached to every drum, cymbal, bell, and gong, all hooked up to one laptop computer. One person could coordinate the dozens of instruments together through the laptop, but the music made was completely acoustic. Gamelan music is incredibly ambient Indonesian music, and the room was mostly empty, so I sat on the padded floor and did as much yoga as I could remember.
Then I biked to the farmer's market for spinach and strudel, and then the library for a jazz piano instruction book. Later in the afternoon, I had a workout throwing frisbee with a friend in 30 mph winds.
In the evening, I sat on my skychair and watched the nearly-full moon as cloud after cloud blew across it, making amazing colorful moon shadows.
Sunday was taken up by an afternoon choir concert, but Laura and I got in an evening stroll under the full moon.
