So, we own two cats who live in our apartment, Momo and Koko. Because of this, we cannot take in any other cats because of the 2 cat max rule, and we also worry about territorial fights. However, we have delimmas concerning neighborhood cats. There is a feral colony behind our apartment. We have done our best to sterilize the colony, and get homes for the kittens, but we missed one and she had a litter, of which only one has survived. our next door neighbor takes care of the mama cat, which we call "the tuxedo" but her kitten is just too wild to really handle. (we call it the puffball) the tuxedo, like I said is being taken care of by our neighbor, but obviously she never bothered getting her fixed. And of course she is not really claiming real ownership of the cat because she is semi-feral.
The problem is, the tuxedo can no longer fend for herself, and her kid never learned how to either. They pretty much hang around up on the 3rd floor in front of our doors. they are fed and watered there. mostly by us now because our neighbor just doesnt feed them enough. We also got them a winter shelter which we've put by our door.
Now here's the strange part. My mother even refuses to believe this happens. It gets so cold here that the ferrel "puffbal " will actually come inside our house if the door is open. And it's not alone. We've had another feral cat who has started coming up to our floor to eat the catfood cme into our house because its warm.
This would be a great chance to catch these cats to get them fixed, unfortunately, we canot get them fixed in the winter unless the cats have a warm place to stay for a week or so.
we'll just have to wait until spring I guess. but then, freezing weather isn't gone from here until may. by then we'll probably have another litter or two T_T
