This was such a lush, rich read - bittersweet too. Each section brilliantly built up to the conclusion.

Thank you for commenting. I saw 'could take twelve lifetimes to get it right', and that just seemed so Pete Wentz to me. I was worried that it would be too dark for the happy challenge, but I think a lot of the moments had happiness, even if they had off screen jail time or slaughter in battle. And then the ending truly was happy.

I like seeing Pete and Mikey over and over again through time. Like, how they always find each other, even when it's bittersweet. :-)

question though... how's it work? like, some of the dates are overlapping (1954 to 1969 to 1975 for example), so do their souls get reborn once they die, or does it jump into another body (so there's like, multiple Petes and Mikeys at one time, but only one with their souls) or something I didn't think of?

Reincarnation is the closest of beliefs I subscribe to, and even then I don't follow it in a religious way, I just think it's most likely to be right. I view it as non-linear, and once 1954 crazy-ass-pete finally dies in the mid-seventies, never having gotten to leave the asylum, his soul looks at the history of time and is like 'hmmm, what looks interesting? ohhh, how about 800's in europe? nah, screw it, i'll go with american 1950.' and thus eighth life Pete is just old enough to get settled into the Manson cult, meeting fellow needer-of-answers Mikey.

Pete and Mikey will always find each other. *tinhats*

Mikey and Pete got their happy ending, that's what I started the challenge for.

I liked this a lot, the way they always found each other, because they so would, destined to be each time. I really liked how each period was so different and unique, and very interesting to read.

Thank you for joining and for the story ♥

Sorry for the late comment, I'm glad it worked well enough for your challenge.

THEY ARE DESTINED. THEY MIGHT FUCK IT UP, (lol, 12 lifetimes worth) BUT THEY LOVE EACH OTHER, AND THEY WILL MAKE IT WORK, DAMN IT.

I really love how you work the historical events/persons into this. I feel like I missed naunces on the first reading which is why I'm only commenting now. I really like how for each thing they retain their basic personalities but the time/event/people they are around makes them slightly different from each other instead of like an exact copy. I love how at the end they don't get their fortune told because everything is good and they've got more important things than wondering about the past. Very lovely execution and neat idea.

It's sort of funny, I only went back to her prompt post because I couldn't remember what I had claimed but thought I should probably start writing it soon, and then I found Any thing and everything you have ever decided to do, you have succeeded, or will succeed, at doing. It may take you a day, a year, or twelve lifetimes, but if you hold your mind affixed on the idea, it will come forth. and I was like NEEDS MORE REINCARNATION. STAT.

And then I ran into the fact that I don't actually like history at all, and only wanted to write the stuff in the 1900's. But I made it through, because the Greeks had CANON GAY, and Wikipedia is my god. I had to make it through, if only for the fact that I desperately wanted people to read the Pete and Mikey are part of Charles Manson's cult section. By far my favourite section, I was grinning the entire time I was researching it. (Frighteningly enough, his ideas aren't entirely insane. Aside from the murdering bit. It comes off as race-faily, but considering the time it occurred, the idea that there ( ... )
