Years ago, a little boy was born. His name is Shim Changmin. He grew up to be a smart, wise, and handsome young man. He was a good boy, always putting his toys away, always studying without being told, and looking after his younger sisters. He helps his mother with the grocery shopping and watches the news with his father.
Time went by and the young and kind young boy finally was able to get to go where elementary school children all love and fear: middle school. But for Changmin, it was another step up to an education, another step closer to his future of being an architect.
Everyday was pretty much the same to Shim Changmin. Wake up, wash up, get dressed, morning studies, eat breakfast, and leave for school. Not much excitement and shockingly on Changmin’s friends’ behalf, no love confessions.
One day, February 1st, to be more exact, a mystery arose. He got a cute little box with a single, milk chocolate sprinkled over with white chocolate. On the 2nd, he got two little chocolates inside a prettily decorated light yellow box. The same thing happened on the 3rd on so on.
This most definitely puzzled Changmin, something he did not understand and beyond his comprehension. Why would someone do this? He thought. But Shim Changmin decided to let this mystery go unsolved- for he claimed that he was too ‘busy’. But he ate the chocolate, “Don’t let food go to waste!” was his motto, “Especially if it‘s candy!”. Well, one of many anyways.
The enigma continued, but this year, Changmin is going to be a freshman in high school. He was positive that no one would give him chocolates now.
Oh how little did he know…
February 1st once again rolls around, the girls are in a frenzy and the stores advertising erratically. Changmin of course got some early Valentine’s Day chocolates hurtled, thrown, passed, flown, and even propelled at him with a paper airplane. But, he still got chocolates. On the 4th, he got a cute little white box with four chocolates inside it. He looks around the vicinity of his locker, looking for anyone who might be potentially the giver. The freshman saw a few junior girls, chatting away happily about some actor, some guys walking past who were his peers, and Jaejoong sunbae, who was labeled the ‘cold, mysterious, enigmatic, intelligent beauty’ (the school labeled anyone who stood out, with of course, very weird names. Changmin is the ‘tall, smart, handsome, athletic, kind freshman’). Changmin shook his head not believing that someone was still doing this. He felt bad, too. This person must have taken a lot of time, money, and effort to do this.
Four days later, he got eight chocolates and he also has a list of suspects.
This is how it goes:
-Kim Junsu. 2nd year. Hanging around me suddenly. Chance: 83%
-Kim Jaejoong. 3rd year. See him a lot. Chance: 65%
-Lee Sungmin. 3rd year. Follows me everywhere. Chance: 33%
The hopeful Changmin starts his pursuits even somehow persuading his friends to help him.
The next few days went by, slowly and boringly, since nothing seems to have progressed. The person is still leaving chocolates and no one has been eliminated from the suspect list.
On the 12th, said person left a letter, well actually a poem with another box of chocolates. The ever famous:
Roses are red, Violets are blue, Soon all things will end, do you love me, too?
Changmin ran his hand in his hair in frustration, How do I know I love you too when I don’t even know who you are!?
Valentine’s Day rolls around, girls are hysterical, pushing and shoving chocolates into their crush’s face. Especially a certain someone. Or a few some ones. Changmin walks down the hallway with his boisterous friends, laughing. But then Jaejoong sunbae catches his eye. You see, Shim Changmin isn’t one to take in his surroundings, or just enjoy it for that matter, just looking straight forward. So it was quite odd to see Changmin just standing there, gaping like a gold fish at his sunbae who had a ‘come hither’ look.
Enticed, Changmin nods weakly and follows his sunbae into the courtyard he never noticed.
Jaejoong takes out a box and holds it out for Changmin to take. Changmin, meanwhile, is confused beyond words. He takes the box slowly and opens it to see… the most beautiful and scrumptious looking cake. His eyes widen and look up to make certain that it’s his.
Jaejoong nods, “Happy Valentine’s Day, Changmin ah. I’m sure you weren’t expecting it from me.”
Changmin slowly nods once again and Jaejoong continues, “I like you a lot. I think I may even be in love with you. Also, I want an answer. I know you don’t me but just… think about it. If I’ve waited this long, I can wait a little longer.”
The freshman just holds onto the box. This, he was not expecting. When he fell in love, he expected a BAM! Then a scene something like the Disney princess movies his sisters watch all the time.
When Changmin told his friend Kangin, he just shouts out a ‘I KNEW IT!’ meaning he was no help. But for the next few days, Changmin observes his sunbae and realizes something. Instead of a BAM! He expected, it dawned him, well, like a sunrise or sunset.
On March 14th, the day when the guys respond back to their Valentine. There were a lot of blushing, hand holding, overall, PDA. But an anxious and nervous Changmin is trying to confront his sunbae, but one problem. He can’t find him! So the freshman speed walks, like a grandma on her daily exercise, all over the school. The last place he checks is the courtyard Jaejoong confessed to him.
Changmin pants, spotting Jaejoong sunbae standing there, tapping his foot. Changmin tilts his head and admires how adorable the scene looks.
“Sunbae,” he quietly calls out, “I think I love you, too.”
Jaejoong turns around slowly, with a sparkle in his eyes and wide grin spread across his face.
And they lived happily ever after. Well, as happily as any other couple could, anyway.

Changmin actually did have an unofficial fan club, and the girls wouldn’t let anyone else confess their love for him. Except for Jaejoong obviously, cause now they’re an unofficial fan club for JaeMin XD
