Dan headed right for the dorm’s kitchen after commenting back to Atobe, slipping his phone in his pocket just in case the other male happened to reply. It took some time and effort to get the chicken stock done, but he was fairly proud of the result. It had good flavor, and would hopefully nourish Atobe’s weakened body. With a determined nod, Dan dished out the broth in several containers. He packed them all up into a paper bag, and made his way to Atobe’s dorm, swallowing hard and choking down the butterflies that threatened to flood his stomach. He knocked lightly, calling out, “Atobe-sempai? It’s Dan ~desu!”

Starting awake from the near constant doze he had in for most of the day Atobe pushed himself to sit upright, determinedly ignoring his spinning head as he rose. Padding over to the wardrobe he pulled out his robe and slipped it on over the thin Egyptian cotton pajamas in royal purple he was wearing. It still wasn't proper attire to receive guests but considering the circumstances he supposed he could be forgiven. "Come in Taichi-kun." He called, being promptly rewarded by a coughing fit.

The short brunet started at the sound of Atobe’s voice. Thick and strained with his cold, he sounded nothing like the handsomely-voiced Atobe that made the boy’s heart race. He opened the door, just poking his head in at first. Flushing slightly at the sight of the other male in just his robe and pajamas, he quickly entered and closed the door behind himself. “I...I brought the broth ~desu! There is plenty here! I hope sempai’s cold doesn’t last very long, but there should be enough for a couple of days!” He smiled broadly, fishing out one of the containers, and a plastic spoon he’d fetched from the kitchen.
"Thank you." Atobe caughed again, most of his face hidden behind a handkerchief in Hyoutei colours. "That really wasn't necessary." He still wasn't hungry though intellectually he knew he needed to eat to keep his strength up. "You shouldn't stay here long or you might catch this." He gestured at the room at large, gingerly making his way back to his bed. "And I'd suggest no...intimacy with Echizen until you can be sure he isn't already sick as well." Given that they were living in such close space chances were rather good that he had already, involuntarily infected at least the not so little anymore first year.
“It’s no problem, sempai! Anything I can do for you, I don’t mind! Can I get you water or something?” Dan set the bag containing the remainder of the broth on Atobe’s desk, sitting down in his chair. “I’m not worried about getting sick ~desu! Dan Taichi has a super awesome immune system!” He grinned, it fading as suddenly as it appeared as he realized Atobe knew about Echizen. His face immediately darkened. “I...that...won’t be h-happening anymore, sempai. Somebody I...really care about has feelings for him, and....” He fiddled with the hem of his shirt, chewing on his lower lip. He’d never wanted Atobe to find out. He couldn’t imagine what the other male must be thinking of him right now.
Just great. Pressing a hand to his temple Atobe carefully took a seat on the bed. "It seems this isn't the only bug going around." He sighed, scooting back so he could rest his aching head against the cool wall. "You don't have to justify your life choices to me Taichi-kun." He informed the younger teen wearily.

“Huh?” Dan looked up, cocking his head. His thoughts went to Tooyama, and immediately, he made the connection that maybe Atobe had gotten the wrong idea. “Th-that’s not it! It’s a friend! A good friend of mine likes him a lot, and I would be a bad person if I...um...shared intimacy with Echizen-kun.” The smaller boy flushed even darker. “I don’t want Atobe-sempai to think ill of me.”

Waving a hand at Dan Atobe cut off whatever else the younger teen had to say. "It is none of my business who and what you spend your time with doing Taichi-kun." He drawled roughly. "You're not actually the first people on this planet to do so nor will you be the last I assume." He coughed again. "I am merely trying to keep this as contained as possible." He gestured to his chest. "I wouldn't recommend it - especially if you want to do your best in the individual tournament."

The younger boy stared down at his lap, focusing very intently on the way his hands fussed with his shirt. He felt a little guilty for pulling the attention onto himself when Atobe felt so poorly. “S-sorry,” he mumbled. Sempai really was a good guy, he thought. Even after that, the other male was still thinking about Dan’s performance in the tournament. “U-um! Is the broth...okay?” he asked, finally peeking up through his messy bangs.

"I'm sure it is." Atobe yawned, hand coming up to hide his mouth from sight just in time. "I'm sorry Taichi-kun, I'm not very good company right now." He murmured, reaching up to rub at usually so cutting and sharp eyes that were drooping shut now. "When is your match going to be?"

“Sempai...you should try to get something in you,” Dan pushed gently. He was worried about the boy’s health. He doubted Atobe had eaten anything. But at the same time...maybe it would be better if the other male just got some sleep, judging by the way that yawn looked. He shook his head, tossing his locks about. “Sempai! It’s fine! It’s fine! I like sempai’s company no matter what!” He grinned. “I’m in Group A ~desu. I’m in the morning. 8:30.”

"Hm..."Blinking slowly Atobe sighed. He was honestly too tired to put up much resistance to Dan's worried urging so he simply nodded, picking up one of the containers and prying the lid off. "Pass me a spoon?" The broth didn't look too bad and he was sure it would smell quite apatizing if he could actually smell it.

"I'll be there to watch the match then." He decided. "There are going to be quite a few interesting games."

The small brunet passed over a plastic spoon, trying not to look too eager about his not-so-secret crush eating his cooking. He leaned forward, almost falling out of the chair at Atobe’s last words. “...Sempai! You should rest your body ~desu! It wouldn’t be good if you went out and exacerbated your cold.”

"Nonsense." Dipping the spoon into the soup Atobe lifted it to his lips, blowing over it gently before popping it into his mouth. "A little fresh air will do me good. I haven't been stuck inside this long since..." He shook his head after swallowing the soup. "This is very good Taichi-kun." It was hot and he thought slightly salty and it did feel good filling his stomach.

Dan didn’t look entirely convinced, but he trusted Atobe’s judgement. And the compliment chased away all worry from his mind, face brightening. “I’m so glad!” And he genuinely was. “Is there anything else I can get for you?”

"Ah..." Atobe pursed his lips as he considered Dan's offer. "No, nothing I could ask of you Taichi-kun." He spooned more of the broth into his mouth, swallowing quickly.

“Please don’t be afraid to ask something of me, sempai!” Dan offered, just in case Atobe happened to be shy or something, though that wasn’t exactly a word he would associate with the older boy.

"I need to do my laundry." Atobe admitted, lips twisting in a faint moue of distaste. "But I really shouldn't ask this of you. I will wait until Kabaji is done to have him help me." He drained the last of his broth and passed the container back to Dan.

Dan blinked. Was that all he needed? “I don’t mind doing that at all, sempai! I do mine and my sister’s al the time ~desu!” He paused, stopping to correct himself. “...I did, I mean.” He took the container and spoon from Atobe, smile still stretched over his face.

"Well...if you are sure? I wouldn't want to take advantage of you Taichi-kun." Atobe gave him a low lidded look. "And only if it doesn't interfere with your training or the tournament."

“I’m sure!” He hopped to his feet, setting the emptied container down. “Does Atobe-sempai have a hamper or something?”
"Yes, there is a white bag in the closet." Atobe pointed to his side of it. "You don't have to do everything - just a few things to last me the week would be appreciated."

“It’s no problem at all ~desu! I’ll take it with me when I leave.” He hesitated, hovering over the other boy before plopping back into the chair. “Can I get sempai some water or anything?”

"Some water would probably not go amiss." Atobe agreed, giving Dan a hidden fond look. "I really appreciate everything you are doing Taichi-kun." Yawning again he gave his pillow a longing look.

“No problem ~desu! I’ll be right back!” He, again, hopped from the borrowed seat, stopping mid-step to smile softly at the older boy. “Atobe-sempai.... I like doing things for people I care about!”

"You're a good person." Atobe murmured after a moment, taken aback by the soft smile aimed at him, returning it with an unconscious twist of his own lips.

Dan gave a quick wave as he ran off to get the water, the words bringing a soft flush to his cheeks, and a secret smile. He returned just a few moments later with a tall glass of ice water.

As quick as Dan had been it seemed exhaustion had been faster for instead of sitting up where he had been just moments befor Atobe was now slumped sideways, curled in on himself. His face was half mashed into his pillow where ever few moments a soft snore originated.

The younger boy stopped himself from calling out just in time. He froze in place, grin replacing itself with a softer expression as he found Atobe sleeping. He crept over to the bed, setting the glass on the stand next to him. He gathered up the empty dish, pausing for just a moment. Atobe really looked peaceful when he slept, Dan thought. Even though his hair was mussed, his face half-smothered, and the soft snores coming from him were likely far from the noises Atobe wanted to be making in his sleep. The brunet stood watching him for a moment, hand reaching out several times before finally making contact. He only tucked a strand of Atobe’s hair behind his ear, but butterflies again fluttered in his stomach. Dan smiled, wishing him sweet dreams before making his way to the door. He grabbed the white duffel, sparing a last glance over his shoulder before stepping out into the hall.
