I am tired. Very...very tired. Last night was horrible, to the point where I don't want to set foot in the hospital again. Thankfully, I have three days off. I am going to forget that there is an outside world and just stay in bed. I'm also going to remind myself that I do not want to go into emergency medicine.
Rini likes me again, which is good. She's stopped trying to attack me every time I walk by. She's actually curled up next to me with Mai. I think we're going to be completely lazy and not move. Genichirou, you'll have to let yourself in when you come over.
Is it wrong that I wanted to kill the guy? He showed up in the ambulance completely drunk, to the point where you could smell the booze on him. He's raving about how it's their fault, that they shouldn't have been on the road. Couldn't understand what he was talking about until the other ambulance came in with a family, mother and her two kids. Turns out the guy ran a light and drove into them. For a split second I thought about dad and how he died. That was when I thought about doing...something. Thankfully, I wasn't assigned to him. I was with the kids. The oldest one was 9. She was worried about her mom and cried a lot. Somehow, I calmed her down, checked her out and she was fine. Just a cut on her forehead that needed stitches. She was scared of the needle and would only let me do the work on her. Got her fixed up after I saw to the baby. This mother was smart. She had the baby in a carseat, but she also had it strapped in properly. It saved his life. He had a bruise starting on his arm, but nothing else. His spine was clear, chest, everything. The mother....she'll survive. Broken leg, concussion, bruises. It'll take time to heal but she'll be able to watch her kids grow up.
Her husband was out of town and she didn't have anyone to watch the kids so I stayed late to be with them. I managed to get them a bed and somehow ended up in the bed with the little girl plastered to my leg and the baby sleeping on me. And he was a drooler. It was cute though. Her husband showed up at 6 this morning and I was surprised how he was able to keep it together in front of the kids. He went to see his wife first. You could tell he'd been crying but didn't want the kids to see it. I managed to get out of the bed without waking them and talked to him. He's planning on suing the guy, and formal charges have been brought against him. Apparently drunk guy is a businessman that was coming home from an office party. Dumbass didn't want to pay for a taxi, so he drove home. They dont' know if he fell asleep, but he did go through the intersection and he was going really fast. That's when he hit them. We were going to talk more but the little girl woke up. She was so happy to see her father and launched herself at him. When the baby woke up he was kind of shy, so I'm thinking that he's not around much. We brought them down to see her (the baby didn't want to let go of me after I changed him) and she cried. She was so happy to see that they were safe. I made sure everyone was comfortable and then left. I'm going to go and visit them on Monday. I can't get up right now. I'm glad that my bed is big. I'm going to push the laptop to the side and just...not move. If I want food...I'll figure something out. Now, I'm sleeping.
