Reading
My LJ's very blank. Since my mind seems to be equally vacant at the moment, I stole a Meme-ish thing to fill some space.
1) Look at the list and bold those you have read.
2) Italicize those you intend to read.
3) Underline the books you LOVE.
4) Strike out the books you have no intention of ever reading, or were forced to read at school and hated.
5) Reprint this list in your own LJ so we can try and track down these people who've only read 6 and force books upon them.
1. Pride and Prejudice - Jane Austen (Had to read part of it- ARGH)
2 The Lord of the Rings - JRR Tolkien (Read 1.5 books... Ugh.)
3 Jane Eyre - Charlotte Bronte (I've heard mixed reviews of this)
4 The Harry Potter Series - JK Rowling
5 To Kill a Mockingbird - Harper Lee
6 The Bible (All the old testament in Hebrew AND English, and I can quote from it... Bereshet bara Elohim, et ha shamayim ve et ha aretz.... The NT I've seen a bit of, mostly on various obnoxious pamphlets.)

8 Nineteen Eighty Four - George Orwell (Love.)
9 His Dark Materials - Philip Pullman (Not quite a favorite, but I loved the first 2 in the series. The last one? I'm okay with dissing religion, but it was sudden and the plot was CRAP)
10 Great Expectations- Charles Dickens (And I'll admit it, I LIKED this. Poor pip. Estella was amazing.)
11 Little Women - Louisa M Alcott
12 Tess of the D'Urbervilles - Thomas Hardy (Never heard of this)
13 Catch 22 - Joseph Heller (My kind of book- funny and absurd.)
14 Complete Works of Shakespeare (A few plays were good but I feel NO need to read 'em all.)
15 Rebecca - Daphne Du Maurier
16 The Hobbit - JRR Tolkien
17 Birdsong - Sebastian Faulks
18 Catcher in the Rye - JD Salinger (I have never wanted to smack a character as much as Holden. And the kids in my class kept going on about how the guy who patted him on the head was probably a child molester.)
19 The Time Traveller's Wife - Audrey Niffenegger
20 Middlemarch - George Eliot
21 Gone With The Wind - Margaret Mitchell (Love. Love. But I hated Rhett towards the end- he was kinda badass, why did he screw it up by being a dick? ._.; Scarlett was amazing, too, up until he dragged her off up the stairs with her crying.. And then she decided she liked it. =\ Maybe if I hadn't been 10 when I read this for the first time I'd have been less creeped out.)
22 The Great Gatsby - F Scott Fitzgerald (Meh, too much symbolism for me. Not my favorite.)
23 Bleak House - Charles Dickens (I know- no one REALLY likes Dickens, they just claim to. A tale of two cities was awful and I never finished it, but I quite liked Great Expectations. Then again, when I watched the 9 hour play of NIcholas Nickleby it was awful, and the book appeared worse... And then there's Oliver Twist, which I had to read too much of in private school, and despised. So I suppose his works are really a mixed bag. )
24 War and Peace - Leo Tolstoy (NOOOOooooo)
25 The Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy - Douglas Adams (It's way overrated.)
26 Brideshead Revisited - Evelyn Waugh
27 Crime and Punishment - Fyodor Dostoyevsky (Liked it at first, but it dragged too much and then the end was too sudden.)
