There's something grateful muttered in Spanish, and then she clears her throat, speaking quickly and anxiously. "Ambassador? It's Solana Nunez, Mina's assistant. I must speak with you, please."

"Someone attacked Mina last night, while she was sleeping." First name basis: Mina's two young, female assistants are close to her like very few of her other employees are.

Fuck. Fuck. Caius doesn't drop the phone; he clenches his hand around it until he consciously loosens his grip, aware that it's delicate equipment that he could break. "Where is she?"
He's already figuring out how fast he can get there.

"Angeles, it's the only decent one--" There's brief, clipped conversation between Solana and Mina's other assistant, who is tall and androgynous in her beauty and, like Solana herself, very worried. It's in Nahuatl, though.
"I'm not sure what all happened, but apparently Mina was arguing about being taken to the hospital and left a few messages elsewhere before they got her into the ambulance, so I'd wager her injuries aren't too severe." She hopes. She doesn't say that--it lessens the promise in the statement. Solana does, however, wonder why Mina didn't call Caius first.

Caius is wondering that too, Solana, and Mina will probably hear about it herself shortly. "I'm going to wrap things up here as quickly as I can and I'll be there today," he says, clipped and matter of fact to cover mixed worry (terror) and annoyance. (He doesn't quite manage to mask it, but that's understandable now, at least.) "If you can speak to her, tell her to expect me."

"All right. Elisa has arrangements made for her at the Lucerna--" She repeats the room number here, but quietly, because you never do know who's listening. "--if she isn't at the hospital still, she'll presumably be there. There's going to be security in the room adjacent. I'll update you if I get any new information."

It's 7:26AM in London, and Caius has been up for a while now - but busy, and it takes him a short while to locate his phone and pick it up. "Roy."

There's a moment of silence, because that doesn't bode especially well already- "Ms Nunez. What is it?"

"The hospital," Solana says, quietly, "There are police everywhere-- it's hard to find out what's going on, but hold on, I've got something now--"

"Which hos- what have you got?" Caius's impatience is beginning, already, to leak through into his voice; he's packing up his laptop while he talks.

"Good. Thank you." Again, quieter, "Thank you."
She can probably hear the beginnings of a shout to get things organized before he cuts the call to an end.
