End of the tennis season. I've finished with a 50/50 record in terms of doubles and singles. This is my first competitive season, so realistically, I suppose I have to be pretty pleased. My main thing I need to work at is my explosive speed. I've started training with my newly acquired jumpsoles which work on the fast twitch muscles in the legs. My ankles and calfs are extremely weak and girlish, so strengthening them big time is a necessity.
Through playing tennis 5-7 times a week, I'm getting in the best shape of my life. I used to be 45kg and scrawny as hell when I started college, then I got a bit solid through sitting on my ass all day playing no sports after I gave up cricket. I'm down to a cool 72kg and feeling quite reasonable. I've still got a bit of sweaty, useless fat to get rid of, but that will come off in the next few months. My weight work's going well, I'm basically not going for a body buliuder's body, but rather a nicely cut one. The triceps and shoulder exercises that I do have increased their explosive power no end. I'm brutalising the ball on the serve the fastest I've ever done it.
I'm keen as hell to get involved in a german tennis type exchange in a few years. My cousin's going over this year. Basically you go ovr and stay with a family, help out with shit at the local club and play a few interclub matches. I'm really enjoying the german language at university, so I think it would be a great opportunity.
I'm turning into a mega fucking jock, but honestly I love the competition. It's all about being the alpha male anbd getting all the women.
