I landed at LAX with a lot of stories to tell and I just didn't know how to explain everything, especially since I have been looking forward to this trip for the past two years. Dreaming, obsessing, and adoring this country so much that it's made people sick of talking to me. Well the best way I can summarize such a short span of three amazing days is with two lists. First list: "Things I Miss About London" and Second list: "Things I Miss About California". Well here I blog..
#1 "Things I Miss About London"
1.) Public transportation and the hustle of the Underground.
2.) The cutie in the Underground that gave up his seat for me. :sigh: I was pretty jet lagged but awake enough to notice him.
3.) Authentic English accents and being surrounded by cockneys (like it's a good thing..haha!)
4.) Breathing in a football loving nation.
5.) My "Rupert Everret stunt double" tour guide and his dry humor, whose really "the bees knees" and loved saying "popped his clogs"...haha!
6.) Driving on the left side of the road, dogging traffic, and running lights.
7.) Having a LOCAL lady ask me how to get somewhere in the Tube because I blended in so well! I must admit I did a pretty good job of figuring out the difference between a district line and circle line in just two days! It was wild that somebody had the nerve to ask me directions on my first day EVER in London.
8.) Bond street on a Sunday, waiting for the shops to open.
9.) Taking the British rail and passing by the incomplete Wembley Stadium up close and personal.
10.) The adorable flight attendant on my journey going to London. I just wanted to dunk him in my coffee, among other places. Sorry Alan but just this once. :evil grin:
11.) Incorporating "yeah??" after ever sentence spoken. It seems like the English only spoke in questions (just like I read!) when they try to make a point, yeah?
#2 "Things I Miss About California"
1.) The familiar sound of my family's voice and my niece running around.
2.) The sunny weather.
3.) Using the USD instead of the GBP.
4.) Bigger living space.
5.) Palm trees.
6.) Driving my own car.
7.) My bed.
8.) Internet access because I didn't bring my laptop.
9.) Drinking sprite because their lemonade aka sprite did not have any flavor!
Well, it was def. a culture shock the first day there because on top of being dead tired I was new to everything and the English way of life. I can study it for two whole years but ain't nothing like the real thing baby! But once day two came around I was a little bit more comfortable and absorbing everything like an Anglophilian sponge!
On the Chiltern Railways via Aylesbury to visit relatives.
Look out England, I'm not done with you yet. I'm coming back to Westminster in January and I have you all to myself for six glorious months.
Pictures to be added later or on Myspace because quite frankly my dear, I have tons of memories that can overload my brain just thinking about it!
Sidenote: My niece is sleeping sideways on the computer chair and I am left to use her small desk chair, which is hobbit-friendly but not human-friendly.
Cheers.
