Exciting News!

I was lying on my bed this morning, waiting to be transferred to the shower chair (they have special wheelchairs for giving people showers). My legs were straight and my left leg felt uncomfortable, so I bent it. Now, I've bent it before, even back when I was on the Neurology floor at the hospital, but those bends were small bends, just an inch or ( Read more... )

Hey, Heather...took me a minute to figure out who you were. I didn't remember that you followed me on LJ as well as FB. Thanks for the cheer! :)

Hi Guy! Yet another LJ comment from a FB friend. :)

Of course I don't mind people commenting on LJ. But commenting on FB means everyone is part of the same conversation. Whatever you find easier is fine with me though. I like seeing comments either way.

I'll try to remember, but it's difficult to keep track of where everyone wishes to be replied to. I read your post on LiveJournal, so that's where I replied.

Yeah, it's not really a problem. And I know what you mean about not being able to keep track of where people prefer their comments. I suppose if I really cared I could turn off the ability to comment here, but I don't because theoretically there could be someone who can only read my posts here. It's just that there are way more people on Facebook than on LJ these days.

It sounds like you're slowly improving. That's great news. BTW, I tried the soft shell crab Pringles. I'd forgotten how greasy Pringles are, but these have a pretty good flavor. I'll see whether I can get Amy to score you a can or two. For some reason, supermarkets in KL are all in the basements of shopping malls. I got these at the mall across the street from the hotel, so it should be easy for Amy to get more, as she goes to that mall nearly daily.

They probably got the basement supermarket idea from the British, since it's fairly common in England (e.g., Harrod's Food Halls).

Good point. Those food halls are common in Tokyo, too, where I saw what I like to call Scarlett Johansson fruit &mdash those individually-wrapped, perfectly-shaped, absolutely flawless fruit that look so improbably perfect that you can't believe they're real fruit (or a real human being, in the case of Ms. Johansson). And of course they're absurdly expensive, even with Japan having been in a deflationary spiral for 20 years.

I did wonder how much of the absurd prices in Tokyo were due to the fact that it was Tokyo and not a smaller city, rather than the fact that it was Japan and not a cheaper country. London and New York are much more expensive than England and America, so I suppose the same could be true. I would love to go back to Japan, ride the shinkansen and maybe climb Mt. Fuji. Half a day in Tokyo was definitely not enough.
