this in my diabetic forum on LJ.
I found it very interesting, see how in my past (particularly in my teenage years),I had thought about doing this myself. I never went down that road, because I always thought the damage to myself would be greater than being overweight. I will say though, that before I was diagnosed as being a type one diabetic, I was losing a pound a day and eating whatever I wanted. It was the best "diet" I've ever been on. Losing weight and then having the doctor tell you that you are too thin is always nice to hear when you've always been a bigger girl. I can see the appeal, the draw and understand why someone would want to go about this easy way to lose weight. It's just too bad it's killing you in the process.
However, I'm really happy to see CNN putting this info out there and letting diabetics become more aware that these afflictions are out there. Hopefully if you are aware of the complications and dangers, the negative aspects out weigh the positive and they won't start on this sort of diet.
Kudos CNN.
