How to make someone really mad without trying

I made her so mad she claimed she had flames coming out of her ears.

She asked me to review her SV story. She wanted my opinion of the work and suggestions for making it better, giivng it more depth, etc. I wasn't really enthused, but did it. We exchanged several emails, the end result was that I thought her writing and characterization were good, but the story seemed to need more or less detail. It wasn't great, unusual, or unique, but it also wasn't bad.

I apparently added insult to injury by suggesting she look into other ways to describe Lex. He is bald - tell or show something else / different. He is well dressed - try not to mention cost because a) it can date the story b) what you think is expensive is more than likely barely even pocket change to a Billionaire, and c) discussing men's clothes when you obviously didn't take the time to research takes away from the rest of the story. When I provided the feedback, it was expressed much more diplomatically, took place over several exchanges, and was not meant to be negative. In retrospect, I think suggesting google as a minimum is what sent her over the edge.

She is mad. And tells me she won't be posting the story. I'm hoping she changes her mind. Its kind of cute and - if she decided to remove some detail - would read really nicely.

I feel guilty, and mad because I feel guilty, when I gave her exactly what she asked for.

Oh well. Maybe she'll change her mind.
