I'd say it's the grasp of character and engaging voice and (yes) focus on Gai and Kakashi that pings a fill as yours, but hey.  ^_^

I hear you - the meme comm seems kind of smaller/less active than it used to and it's...I don't know.  The kind of thing that usually works better with more people participating, y'know?  But it's somehow...it's like crack?  I keep telling myself I need to lay off it for a couple months, focus on my non-meme fics that aren't getting written, but somehow I keep going back month after month and picking up more prompts, some of which get written within the month and some of which just add to the WIP-pile.

In any case, if you do quit the meme, I hope you keep writing and sharing with the GaiKaka comm, because I really enjoy your work and I know I'm not the only one.  It would be a shame to leave what you've done unfinished when there's so much to it already, yes.  If the inspiration is dead, though, there's not a whole lot you can do.  But I'm selfishly hoping that your mention of wanting to work on them again means the inpsiration is not necessarily dead.

Ugh, the meme's just kind of dead these days. I mean, I've written four fills for this round already and I know that, if I did leave a prompt, it probably wouldn't get filled. But it wouldn't bother me that much ( I primarily go there for inspiration and writing, not to get fic), if I hadn't had a falling out with the other mods. Although calling it a falling out is giving it too much credit. They just didn't talk to me at all. How depressing is that? I spent days on the archive and then they just cut me out of every decision. Then I stepped down and their reaction to that was literally nothing. To this day I haven't heard from them.

So the day I announced that I wouldn't finish those fills was the day I was all mad about those people. Now I've cooled off and feel sorry about it. It's really not an inspiration thing at all, both of the fics are in fact finished (in outline at least), and I've got a couple of thousand more words written on the jealousy fill, but nowhere to post them, since I announced to the meme that I would NEVER come back.

Yeah, it's definitely more about inspiration and impetus to write than 'getting fic'; most of the prompts I leave are the type that don't get picked up.  But it's really too bad about the other mods kind of disregarding you like that; I'm sure it rankles a lot.

In any case, though, I'm glad to see the jealousy fill back in production and being linked on the comm.  Saw the note about new chapter added, also, so I'm definitely going to stop by to catch up on it.  ^_^
