Musics

Music by Chris Leeson, lyrics by Me. "Together" I wrote as a Freshman, "Apotheosis" was written specifically for Chris. I know they're a bit long, but they're a bit of an experiment. I tend to write a lot (there's a whole stanza cut out of Apotheosis) and the way they're put together, there's a lot of pausing and bridging and suchlike. There's another song he's written based on my sonnet "Synthesis," but he can't play it well enough yet to record, hehe. Thought I'd share. Comments welcome. I've written lyrics before, but these are the first tangible songs I've gotten someone to write.

The only thing I've written recently is this song/poem:

A cure for love

Future’s coming,
making liars out of lovers
who lie together through the night.
Don’t come here looking
for some kind of absolution,
it’s not here.
You say I love you,
where’s the proof?
You say I love you,
like those words
could hold some kind of truth,
and things are gonna be...

All right, you came here
for a fight, I see,
I see it coming,
I just don’t know when it’s gonna be.
You say I love you,
then you say it again,
but they won’t mean more
if you whisper or scream,
they’re just words,
if you cry or you bleed,
and they don’t mean that anything’s,
that things are gonna be...

Okay, you got me,
you’re right and everything’s wrong,
and there’s no place for us
outside this song.
Love’s got no reason,
no rhyme that I can see,
unless it’s crime
and we are both guilty.
Don’t say I love you
like it’s perjury,
don’t say I love you
while your eyes tell me
it’s all another lie,
and things won’t ever be...
Things aren’t gonna be,
nothing’s gonna be...
