i can't believe it was 20 years ago that NWA's straight outta compton, was released. i was in junior high, crap, makes you feel so old. anyway, that was kind of a scary time to be living in the middle of los angeles. those were real things they were talking about. the racial tension was pretty high. especially in the neighborhoods where i spent most of my time. the LA riots were only 4 years later, but what caused those riots had been building for a while. you can kind of hear it in that album.
